The GRE is only required for specific degree programs at the graduate level. GRE scores are valid for a period of five years, and the Frost School of Music Graduate programs require a minimum 295 combined Verbal and Quantitative scores and a minimum of 4.0 on Analytical Writing.
Programs that require the GRE are as follows:
- Master of Music in Music Education
- Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education
- Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education with Music Therapy Emphasis
Some programs require a supplemental writing sample instead of the GRE. Please see the Degree Program Requirements for an easy way to view all requirements related to your degree/program.
- GRE scores should be reported to the University of Miami using the GRE codes:
- Institution Code R5815
- Department Code 2404.
- All GRE scores and other supplemental materials must be submitted by February 1st.
- Supplemental materials, including the writing sample, should be submitted to: fsom.graddocs@miami.edu
