Unless specified, prescreen requirements are the same as listed below.
French Horn
- Choose one Etude from the following:
- Concert Etude #1 - Complete Method for the Horn by Oscar Franz (2 pages)
- Two (2) contrasting etudes from either Kopprasch, Mueller, or Maxime Alphonse
- One Mvt. from either a Strauss or Mozart Concerto. No cadenza necessary.
- Orchestral Excerpts
- Tchaikovsky #5 solo
- Beethoven #6 3rd and 5th Mvts.
- Strauss, "Til Eulenspiegel"
- Wagner, "Siegfried Rhine Journey" (short call)
In addition to the requirements above, you will be expected to sight-read.
Trombone
Select two (2) contrasting etudes or solos (or movements from a sonata or concerto) which best demonstrate your tone, range, technique, and lyric ability. The following repertoire is recommended, but similar works may be substituted:

Note: Prior to the audition, all applicants are encouraged to confirm their audition material via email with Professor Tim Conner.
Prescreening
- One Etude of the applicant's choice
- Choose ONE of the following:
- One movement of a standard solo work (concerto or sonata) or
- A short solo piece (five to eight minutes) or
- Five to eight minutes from a single-movement work
- Repertoire chosen should demonstrate the applicant's musical and technical ability and interest
Live/Regional Audition
- Two contrasting etudes
- One or two solos of the applicant's choice (typically 8-15 minutes of music)
- Three orchestral excerpts
Repertoire chosen should demonstrate the full scope of the applicant's musical and technical ability and interest.
Tuba & Euphonium
Select two or three contrasting etudes or solos (or movements from a concerto or sonata) totaling six minutes which best demonstrate your tone, range, technique, and lyric ability. The following repertoire is recommended but similar works may be substituted.
