Prescreening, Audition, and Portfolio Information

Graduate On-Campus Auditions

On-campus Audition Dates

  • February 12 - Brass, Piano, Strings, Voice, Woodwinds
  • February 13 - Percussion (for all applying as orchestral players)
  • February 19 - Brass, Piano, Strings, Voice, Woodwinds, Guitar
  • February 20 - Percussion (all other percussion applicants)  
  • February 26 - Guitar, Harp
  • March 5 - Piano, Strings 

Confirmation emails will be sent in early 2022 with additional details about the audition format and schedule. 

Some areas of the Frost School of Music (composition, conducting, jazz, music ed, music therapy, musicology) schedule their own auditions/interviews and applicants will be contacted by faculty to arrange those.

  • Guidelines

    • Prescreenings will not be reviewed by faculty until all application materials and applicable fees are received
    • Faculty will review the prescreening submissions and an invitation to audition will be extended to selected applicants
    • All applicants invited to audition will be contacted to confirm an audition date choice. Please do not make travel plans until you receive that audition confirmation
    • Prescreening submissions will be accepted online only - upload here
    • All submissions should include both audio and video

Virtual Auditions

  • We currently plan to host in-person auditions. We continue to carefully monitor the current situation with the ongoing pandemic. If necessary, we are prepared to shift to virtual auditions. Any changes in our plans to host in-person auditions would be communicated immediately.
  • Virtual auditions will require approval from the Frost School of Music Admissions Office. For more information, please contact us at admission.music@miami.edu.
