Prescreening, Audition, and Portfolio Information

Auditions are held on campus and recorded auditions are accepted via SlideRoom. Auditions are scheduled after all FROST School of Music application materials are received and complete.

Graduate On-Campus Auditions

February 15, 2020 (No Classical Brass, Woodwinds, or Voice)

Prescreenings

The following programs require a prescreening by December 1. This must be uploaded to SlideRoom:

  • Choral Conducting
  • Classical Instrumental Performance
  • Classical Keyboard Performance
  • Classical Vocal Performance
  • Jazz Instrumental Performance
  • Jazz Vocal Performance
  • Keyboard Performance and Pedagogy
  • Orchestral/Wind Conducting
  • Vocal Performance and Pedagogy

Prescreening Guidelines

  • Prescreenings will not be reviewed by faculty until all application materials and applicable fees are received
  • Faculty will review the prescreening submissions and an invitation to audition will be extended to selected applicants
  • All applicants invited to audition will be contacted to confirm an audition date choice. Please do not make travel plans until you receive that audition confirmation
  • Prescreening submissions will be accepted online only
  • All submissions should include both audio and video
  • Check the clickable links on the left-hand menu for specific prescreen requirements

Recorded Auditions

  • Need prior approval from faculty
  • Uploaded online through SlideRoom
  • Recorded auditions should include both audio and video
  • Submission deadline is February 1st

Portfolios

The following programs require a portfolio by January 1. This must be uploaded to SlideRoom:

  • Composition (MTC)
  • Jazz Composition (MSJC)
  • Media Writing & Production (MWP)
  • Music Engineering Technology (MUE)
  • Studio Jazz Writing (SJW)
